I still have plans to build my Octagon Strawbale House. I hope to do it on some land that has an abundance of clay. That's hard to find here in Florida. You can buy it but I STILL want to build my little house , "up from the ground". Saw another docu about Cal EArth and the amazing Iranian -American who created it.

Solar Burrito!
Thanks to Lloyd Kahn for turning me onto this little blog:
We can never have too many inspiring sustainable living blogs.

This is exactly the way that I envision my own dream Octagon strawbale house to look. Lloyd Kahn posted this on his amazing blog. I am still trying to find a landowner from whom I can rent-to-own an acre or two to do this project. I so want a house of my own such as the one pictured above. Picture it surrounded by gardens everywhere.I have studied alternative building methods for many years and a few summers ago I did an internship in Strawbale Building. This picture came from White Oak Farm in Williams, Oregon. They provide internships in sustainable building at a cost. It looks like a pretty good program on the website. I spent time in and around sw Oregon years ago and it is a really beautiful part of Oregon. Check it out: www.whiteoakfarmcsa.org

Here is a picture from www.altbuildblog.blogspot.com . Lloyd Kahn featured another pic of a really cool design for a lean-to greenhouse in adobe. He always gets me surfing when it comes to seeing more stuff built with clay, straw, sand and water. I love blogs like this one. Spring time inspiration is hitting hard again. Every year at this time I go through this itch of a sort of wanting to build and also never working for anyone else ever again. May this be the spring I land to stay on land.
